Humanitarian assistance in Venezuela
Description

Following the powerful earthquakes that struck on Wednesday, 24 June, the humanitarian situation in Venezuela has deteriorated significantly.

The hardest-hit areas, particularly La Guaira and several parts of Caracas, have suffered building collapses, damage to critical infrastructure, and disruptions to healthcare, water, and electricity services. Thousands of people have been displaced or are in urgent need of assistance, while rescue teams and international humanitarian organizations continue working to locate survivors and provide shelter, food, safe drinking water, and medical care. The disaster has struck a country already facing a severe economic and social crisis, making the emergency response more challenging and increasing the needs of the most vulnerable communities.

The funds raised will be channelled through humanitarian organizations with a proven track record, operational capacity, and a strong presence on the ground, ensuring that donations reach the people who need them most.

Activities

The funds raised will be allocated entirely to supporting the humanitarian actions carried out by the beneficiary organizations of the emergency campaign for Venezuela:

  • UNHCR is the UN agency responsible for protecting and assisting refugees, displaced people and stateless persons. It provides shelter, basic assistance, legal protection and support to people who have had to flee their places of origin due to conflicts, persecution or humanitarian crises.

  • UNICEF works to guarantee children’s rights and provides responses in key areas such as health, nutrition, education, child protection, water and sanitation. It has extensive experience in humanitarian emergencies and in assisting children in vulnerable situations.

  • Save the Children is an international organization dedicated to protecting children’s lives, defending their rights and ensuring their development. It works in humanitarian emergencies, educational programmes, protection against violence and support for children in situations of poverty or exclusion.

  • The Red Cross carries out international humanitarian aid actions to respond to disasters, conflicts and crisis situations. Its actions include healthcare assistance, food and water distribution, protection of the most vulnerable people and support for the recovery of affected communities.

  • Oxfam Intermón works to combat poverty and inequalities and has extensive experience in humanitarian action. During emergencies, it provides safe drinking water, sanitation, food, shelter and financial support to affected people, while also promoting the recovery and resilience of communities.
